Matilda Geoffrey had risked it all for love.
She'd left Australia to be with Barry—the man who had swept her off her virtual feet. Now, wearing a wedding dress, she's alone on Main Street in small-town Wisconsin, and things aren't working out exactly as planned….
In town for his annual family visit, Marc Olsen had never seen a bride quite like Matilda—staring into a storefront window, holding a tottering wedding cake and looking desperately in need of a groom. He doesn't have many warm feelings for his hometown, but meeting Matilda just as she discovers she's been scammed by her online "fiancé" stirs something in him.
Matilda is not the kind of woman Marc imagined himself with, and Marc is anything but the romantic hero that Matilda has always dreamed of. But as unlikely circumstances throw them together, can they let go of their misconceptions and risk their hearts for love?

From the Author
Dear Reader,
I'm so excited to introduce you to Boomerang Bride! This story grew out of a collision of ideas sparked by moments in time starting with me riding a ski-lift on my own. As I gazed out at the Australian snow gums and the pristine snow, an image of a bride holding a wedding cake and staring into a shop window pinged into my mind. I had no clue why and the image wouldn't budge.
Two days later, I heard a TV snippet about a conman scamming a European heiress and I got an email from a man in Nigeria telling me I had won the lottery.
Three weeks after that I heard the song, Bridal Train by The Waifs; the story of their grandmother who married a US sailor during WW2. At the end of the war, the US navy commissioned a train to collect all the Australian war brides from around the country and gathered them all in Sydney before they set sail for the US. It got me thinking...what if you'd grown up hearing the great romantic adventure-cum-love story of your grandmother and your mother had her own as well. Stories like that become family folk law and set up an expectation.
Suddenly I had a reason for my heroine, Matilda, to be standing in an ancient wedding dress, holding a cake and staring into an empty shop window ready for her great adventure. Of course absolutely nothing goes to plan!
I've lived in Wisconsin and every cross-cultural confusion that happens to Matilda, happened to me! Although Australians and Americans speak English, it often feels like we're speaking a different language which leads to some very funny misunderstandings.
I hope you enjoy Boomerang Bride. If you'd like to hear the song, Bridal Train and see photos of the real towns that inspired Hobin, then head over to my website at fionalowe.com. Happy Reading!

For Norm, Sandon and Barton for their suggestion that I "write a big book" and for their support while I did it. I love you guys!
To Jude, Doris, Libbey, Cindy, Elizabeth and Maureen for making an Aussie so welcome in Wisconsin.
And with thanks to Norma who patiently answered my questions, to Charlotte who loved the story and translated "Aussie" to "American-speak," and to Rachelle who explained how small-town Wisconsin policing works. I couldn't have done it without you all!

Boomerang Bride
By Nasreen Jahan
BOOMERANG BRIDE is a Carina Press release by author Fiona Lowe.
Matilda Geoffrey arrives at a small US town in a bride's dress carrying a wedding cake. She wanted to surprise her fiancé, whom she met online in a chat room.
Marc Olsen finds her standing in front of an empty shop and decides to help her. Then he finds out she's been scammed by her virtual fiancé.
He takes her in and offers her a job. Is it out of kindness of his heart? Or is it because something stirs in him even though Matilda is not the kind of woman Marc usually dates?
He has left the small town as soon as possible to escape the confines of familial responsibilities. After all, he was thrown into it at an early age by his father's death. He's back from New York just for the holidays but find himself sucked deeper in the responsibilities of a sick sister and her angry teenage son.
I loved the "Aussie" to "American" translations in this book. At times it resonated with me and at other times it was hilarious!
Author Fiona Lowe came up with an emotionally satisfying, sweet and witty story. It has great characters and is full of sizzling sexual tension. Yet the warmth and sensitivity she showed while touching on the subject of breast cancer and a woman's loss of self-confidence in herself after the mastectomy, was heart-touching.
Her hero, Marc, with his "Viking" good looks was delicious. The heroine, Tildy, who at first appeared scatter-brained, turned out to be an intensely emotional, tender with her big heart and quest for a perfect family. Tildy, surprisingly, was with perfect business sense and started her own business. This was inspiring, after she was scammed out of her money. Both the characters are smart and sharp-witted and matched up perfectly in this well written story.
Earlier I was recommended by a friend that, "If you want to read a perfectly crafted book with scene and sequel, goal, motivation, conflict and which flows magically- read any of Fiona Lowe's books!" and I found it to be so true in the case of BOOMERANG BRIDE!
I liked author Fiona Lowe's style. It seemed like she was writing about real people in situations that could happen. Scenarios came alive as do people with her use of dialogue and situation that help us know them better.
Even the secondary characters were all so real and truly the imaginary is so vivid, I don't beleive, I've ever read a book that pulled at my heart so immediately and so strongly!
Boomerang Bride is well worth reading and I recommend it for an emotionally satisfying story

Australia versus small-town Wisconsin
By RomReader
Heroine flies to Wisconsin from Australia with her grandmother's wedding dress on in order to surprise her fiance. Her big surprise turns into a big shock as her fiance's supposed home is actually an empty store & that's where architect Hero meets her. Being conned by her fiance leaves her virtually penniless & homeless in a small Wisconsin town, where she musters up the courage to find a job & a place to stay ASAP. Hero is oustounded by her quick recovery & tries to help her. But heroine ends up helping him more with the various crises in his family's life. Their attraction soon turns into a secret affair with both knowing that it ends as soon as Hero goes back to New York after the Christmas holiday. How do they reconcile their commitment differences?
Not too bad. It had a slow half, romance-wise. First half of the book was mostly about Australian heroine's acculturation to the small-town Wisconsin way of life. Although interesting at times (especially the language differences), the first half read more like chick-lit than romance. There was so much "We Australians, do this" while "You Americans, do that" conversations that I got bored at times. The romance during the first half was slow to develop & more peripheral. I took many breaks & even fell asleep a couple times during this part of the book. Thankfully, the second half got better. There was more drama & more sex. The characters came alive & the story more centered on the romances (There was a secondary romance between Hero's sister & the town's cop). By the end, my emotions were drawn & I even got a little teary-eyed during the breakup & reconciliation of the main characters. I thought that Hero's change of heart was too sudden but not totally unbelievable. Heroine & her inner strength & positive outlook pulled the romance & the overall book together.
Moderately recommended.

Fiona Lowe Always Delivers
By Serena Tatti
I am a huge fan of Fiona Lowe's Mills & Boons Medical Romances and her first venture into single title has every element I've come to expect from her books, with some added touches that make the story utterly compelling.
Tildy is a feisty heroine who has been tricked by her online fiancé to travel from her home in Australia to the unknown land of Wisconsin, USA. She arrives complete with a wedding dress and wedding cake and her knight in shining armor comes in the form of Marc, the yummy hero we completely fall in love and lust with. There are oh so many reasons they should never be together, and yet Ms Lowe successfully takes us through their journey and we also meet some wonderful secondary characters, whose stories are heart-wrenching and heart-warming, and yet they never overshadow the wonderful romance between Tildy and Marc, they just enhance it. And just when everything seems hopeless... well you'll have to buy the book and read it for yourself.
A great emotional journey with wonderful characters and, as always, a perfectly crafted storyline. It is indeed magical.
