"My" personal opinion Tara Brown is a breath of fresh air!She created and twisted and put her own stamp on it! I have read a lot of books. Seriously, I have never heard,read about, or imagined the things that await you on the pages. Rayne, I am just going to say the name. My mouth hanging open, sitting here picking jaw off of the floor! Tara Brown penned us one of the most originals books ever! Every page she weaves and tangles just a bit more...I loved every attribute of each one of these characters. I didn't know rather I wanted to be sucked dry by Constantine or burned to death by Wyatt. Poor Rayne is thrown into a life she would of never dreamed to be in. She thought college was a tough decision. You have no idea! whew! What do you do when you find out that you have been born before and Rayne is born for a purpose. But cannot be reincarnated to fall in love with her soul mate. NO way, nope Rayne has such a huge destiny, that will be hard to alter. Will she die trying? Well people I will tell you this much, she dies every time she sleeps! I was so enthralled with this book that I couldn't put it down. The characters are complex and rich with histories to learned. We meet Angels, Nixies, Van Helsings, Fae, Witches, and Lucifer.We have action, humor, love and mystery. You will slammed with questions that will get answered as the story goes along. It keeps you twisting and turning until the end. Next book? When? Date please, you will be in big trouble. lol! I did find in a chapter or two that it seemed to jump in time, but it was minor and did not hinder the story. Great job Tara Brown! BEST NEW SERIES OF 2012

I was honored to be able to read an ARC copy of this book. A fresh start on a new series Tara Brown delivers a riveting tale. A whole new spin on good versus evil, on what exactly evil is, and where or who it actually came from. A unique idea that leaves you constantly turning pages to learn more and fall deeper into this world she has created. I was captivated from the start, Rayne is a seemingly normal girl with a hippie mother that is flightier than a flock of birds. Branching out she decides to go to college and once there she isn't as protected as Willow, her mother, thought she was. Rayne is something special and not everyone views her as such sending her on the run for her life. The question becomes from who; the mother she was raised with, the handsome Wyatt that pushed his way into her life, the other hottie Constantine that she slowly starts to remember loving, or worse the evil that surround them all? It wasn't lacking in the supernaturals giving us Witches, Nixie's and Van Helsing's to satisfy that need. Through best friends Michelle and Mona (not entirely sure about her yet) we are awarded a nice blend of humor that doesn't stray from the depth of the plot. A nice steady paced novel with a good flow and a perfect release of information, not lacking or over doing it. Be prepared for it to pull out all of your emotions while taking you on ride full of twists and action nearly tossing you over the cliffy you reach at the end. I am eagerly waiting for book two!

Great story!

I really enjoyed this book.

When I first started this story it read a lot like a contemporary romance about a girl starting college and meeting a mysterious boy. But then it unfolded into a paranormal story woven with lies, deceit and folklore. Brown did a great job slowly revealing secrets and keeping the suspense flowing. I loved the world building and all the mythical creatures. I also enjoyed Rayne's relationship with her mom and her friends Mona and Michelle. Her mom cracked me up and their conversations were some of my favorite scenes.

The only thing I struggled with was her relationship with Wyatt. At times I didn't like him at all and I had trouble understanding the connection. When Constantine came into the picture I didn't particularly like him either. But this didn't keep me from reading. In fact, I read the book in two days and couldn't put it down. I look forward to finding out what will happen next!

Okay-ish in the beginning, got much better halfway through!

I must admit the blurb drew me in for this one. Very well-written! Unfortunately, the first few chapters deflated my enthusiasm a bit. Maybe it was because Rayne's mom is just so WACKY; it kind of irritated me. I also thought the conversation between Rayne and Mona was a bit too weird and intense; it takes them all of two seconds to start talking about sex and crack jokes about it. But! The book got more interesting after that; there are so many paranormal characters and plot twists in this book that it's hard to keep up. Not a boring moment. It's quite different from other books in the genre I've read, and I will be watching this author and try more of her work!

About the Author
Daniel Judson, Shamus Award winner and four-time finalist, is the author of seven acclaimed novels: The Darkest Place, The Water’s Edge, The Violet Hour, Voyeur, and The Gin Palace Trilogy, comprised of The Poisoned Rose, The Bone Orchard, and The Gin Palace.

Though he began submitting novels to publishers when he was nineteen, Daniel remained unpublished for nearly twenty years. A brief study of playwriting and acting in college resulted early on in a research method that is decidedly character-driven and occasionally borders on obsession.

“If I’m writing about a boxer, I’ll learn to box and do a boxer’s workout every afternoon. If I’m writing about a man who’s living in hiding, I’ll slip off the grid as best as I can for a time. I’ll even go as far as to wear what my characters wear or carry in my pockets what they carry in theirs. It’s also important for me to walk the streets they walk, see and hear the things they might see and hear.” This attention to detail has resulted in an acquisition of a wide variety of skills, from Vipassana meditation to Filipino knife-fighting to playing jazz trumpet to quick-drawing and shooting “triple taps” in three seconds. I'm hooked.

This is my first foray into this new serial venue and if this is the level of storytelling I can expect, I am all in. The Betrayer starts with an engaging cast of characters - damaged and haunted and determined, each in their own fashion. The characters are distinct and believable. My worry when I began was that I wouldn't be able to follow a series (I have the attention span of a fruit fly) but I can't imagine losing this thread. The writing is first-rate and I'm excited about this new form (or resurgence of a classic form) of storytelling.

Now I'm going to check out other serials.

Enjoyed the serialization

"The Betrayer" by Daniel Judson really sold me on the idea of the serialized novel. I thought of Dickens in particular who serialized his books and it seems to work very well, especially when a book is as filled with suspense as this one. Each episode ends with a cliffhanger through the sixth and ends with the seventh. They are delivered to the Kindle automatically every two weeks, but as soon as one episode was delivered, I read it pretty quickly. This is a hard book to put down.

The story involves the Coyle family of New York whose father was an FBI agent who was brutally murdered and labeled as a traitor. The person most likely to have killed him was his oldest and closest friend who had ties to the Russian mob, but you can't trust that. Agent John Coyle's youngest son, Jeremy, takes it into his own hands to hunt down the person who killed his father and in doing so starts the ball rolling for hitmen and criminals to come out of the woodwork to stop him from discovering that information. By the end of the book, Jeremy's siblings and his brother's girlfriend have also joined in and the action and intrigue never stop. It's very hard to determine who to trust for the Coyle family members who want to avenge their father's death.

This is an exciting novel of suspense that has many twists and turns. It was fun reading it in episodes, and looking forward to the next installment made it something to really look forward to.

Recommended for suspense readers.

Journey I Hadn't Anticipated

I found this book in a selection of books on sale fir the month. I read the description and reviews and decided to give it a chance. I rarely read books who's author I know nothing about. From the very first chapter I was captivated by the story that lay before me. I read the first night for a fee hours as I couldn't not put the book down. Ultimately I read this book in a few sittings. The way the book was written and the description painted a picture in my head and I was able to visually picture in my mind a movie that the author wrote. Very descriptive and the characters were very well rounded and made decisions that were true to their character. Overall very happy I took this journey with in the beginning to me was an unknown author. Highly recommend this book.

"My True Love Gave To Me" is an amazing story that is perfect for Christmas reading or anytime for that matter. I think there are many wives like Penny, having their traditions and not wanting them changed. I loved that Phillip was able to keep his agenda a surprise all the way through the trip and I also loved having all four of the family in a motor home for a month. This trip brought Penny, Phillip and their two kids closer together by doing so brought them all closer to God. Great Read!!!!

Great Christmas Book

My True Love Gave to Me is a great book to get into the Christmas spirit. I can so relate to Penny Lassiter. She has her Christmas traditions that have always been done. Her husband, Phillip, surprises her with a month long trip in a borrowed motor home. She is pretty mad at her husband and only goes grudgingly, along with their two kids. The surprises along the way and how circumstances change everyone in the family makes this a very heartwarming story. I would recommend this book very highly as the holiday season is coming up.

What a great story! I think everyone can relate to Penny Lassiter and her hesitation about her husband's plan to celebrate Christmas in a borrowed RV. It's fun, entertaining, and has a wonderful Christmas message. Highly recommend!

The rapture theory and the gap theory being two of these.

I chose this publication to better understand the bible. Meanings in Hebrew during the time of the "Bible" are not the same as now." Hebrew and Greek are necessary to understand the true meanings of words,phrases,etc.. I am very satisfied.
